Pam Gniech project

Dear Friends in Christ,

For over two decades, Rev. Steve Gniech faithfully shepherded churches across Oklahoma—small congregations in rural communities where he and his wife, Pam, gave their lives to serve and love God’s people. A graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Steve was a committed pastor, teacher, and servant. Tragically, his earthly ministry was cut short in December 2013 when he died in a car accident near Talihina at the age of 59.

At the time of his passing, Steve was serving as a multivocational pastor at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church in the Leflore Association. The church had generously allowed Steve and Pam to live in a converted, older building on the church property. Since his death, Pam—now a widow—has continued to live there with the church’s kindness.

This is where the Church—the Body of Christ—can rise up.

Years ago, Steve and Pam bought a small piece of land near Big Creek Baptist Church, one of the churches Steve once pastored. That land is fully paid for. Big Creek Baptist Church has stepped forward, voting unanimously to lead an effort to build Pam a permanent, safe, and modest home—a 14’ x 40’ (560 sq. ft.) tiny house on her own land. The septic system and water line are already in place.

The total estimated cost is just $30,000. Big Creek Baptist Church has already committed $20,000. We want to give others who may have been blessed by his ministry an opportunity to make some contribution.

This is not just about building a house—this is about honoring a legacy. It's about the people Steve faithfully pastored in:

• Immanuel Baptist Church, Davis (1990–1992)

• First Baptist Church, Wanette (1992–1994)

• Big Creek Baptist Church, Heavener (1994–2000)

• First Baptist Church, Tishomingo (2000–2004)

• First Baptist Church, Weleetka (2004–2011)

• Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church, Heavener (2012–2013)

If you or your church were blessed by Steve’s ministry—or if you simply want to help provide for one of God’s faithful widows—we ask that you prayerfully consider contributing.

No pastor’s widow should be left homeless. Together, we can show Pam that she is not forgotten—that the Church still loves and honors her.

Let’s rally together, and let’s finish what Steve started—caring for the flock and those who have sacrificed for it.

In Christ’s Love,

Pastor Philip Jones
